Behind The Scene: "A Place Like No Other"
On a very cold December morning, I dragged myself out of a warm bed, in the dark, to drive many miles by myself into Bryce Canyon. I wanted to be there before sunrise.
I hate the cold, and I am not a morning person, so it was quite an effort for me. As you can see, the effort paid off.
I was the lone soul taking in this majestic scene, just minutes after sunrise. There was no wind, no movement, no sound. I understood that solitude is a rare gift in this park that is typically filled with travelers.
Wind, water and time have eroded Bryce Canyon National Park's sandstone cliffs into otherworldly hoodoos and spires. It is silent, eerie, and oh, so beautiful. So surreal that it has to be true.
My heart was full of gratitude as I sipped my coffee and watched this place like no other come to life.
