Description
Antelope Canyon. It might be the most photographed slot canyon on the world - with good reason. I received a May trip to Antelope Canyon as a Christmas gift from my love - the most amazing man in the world, who often gives the most amazing gifts in the world. It had been on my list of coveted photo ops, but I had never considered it seriously for many reasons. I had read horror stories about swarms of people fighting for position doing “camera warfare”, clouds of lens-destroying dust everywhere... also... I felt a lot of pressure to take shots that would do justice to this other-worldly magical mystical place. Basically, I was really scared! Haha... But he gave it, and I did it, and I am speechless. It was an indescribable experience.
I especially love this image because to me the rock formation of the right - the purple rocks - looks like a Native American profile. See the mouth, nose, and high cheek bones? The canyon is on Navajo land, and the region’s native Navajo tribes regard it as sacred ground and limit access to the canyons to protect the fragile sandstone formations.
