Description
Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park, Montana, is a dramatic 52 mile highway that divides Glacier Park east and west and crosses the Continental Divide at 6,646-foot-high Logan Pass. You will see lakes carved by glaciers, dense forests and abundant wildlife. Scenic turnouts provide spectacular views and photo opportunities. The road is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
Spring snowstorms or excess snow accumulation will dictate when Logan Pass can be safely opened for traffic. Typically, Logan Pass opens around June 15th and closes in September, so the season is short.
On the day I captured this shot, my husband I had the Going-to-the-Sun Road all to ourselves for much of the evening, which is rare! I was standing on the seat with my head and body outside the sunroof - enjoying 360 degree views of one of God's greatest creations! It was awesome!
