Description
The Tybee Lighthouse on Tybee Island is the oldest and tallest lighthouse in Georgia. The bottom 60 feet date back to 1773. At the top of the tower is the original Fresnel lens, which is nearly eight feet tall and can be seen 18 miles out to sea. The lighthouse was built to give ships safe passage into the Savannah River. For as many times as I've been to Tybee, I have only visited the lighthouse once. Luckily it happened to be on an evening when the sky was very cooperative.
