Description
There's a fascinating ghost town not far from Las Vegas where a variety of interesting and decaying vintage items are collected elsewhere and then randomly deposited to endure the forces of nature. Just in time to catch the last rays of sunshine on the distant mountains I happened upon this amazing piano deposited behind some buildings in the open desert. At first I was tempted to move the metal cows in the background, but then decided they added a whimsical quirkiness to the already surreal scene.
Nelson, back in 1775, wasn't Nelson but was called Eldorado by the Spaniards who made the original discoveries of gold in this area that is now Eldorado Canyon. A hundred years later the prospectors and miners of the day took over and established the notorious Techatticup Mine. Disagreements over ownership, management and labor disputes resulted in wanton killings so frequent as to be routine and ordinary.
Despite the sinister reputation of the mine, it and others in the town produced several million dollars in gold, silver, copper and lead.
