For anyone who had driven the Blue Ridge Parkway, this scene is immediately identifiable. There is a certain quality there that I have never found duplicated anywhere in the world.

Without doubt, this region is one of the best in the US for seeing vibrant autumn colors. That, I was expecting. What I wasn't expecting was the sheer magnitude of the area. The parkway, and its vistas, cover several states. Hundreds of miles of scenic byways and back country roads wind through the region, with overlooks and turnouts that offer breath-taking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains decked out in their finest fall colors.
